To mark a remarkable milestone, Herend transformed the grounds of its historic manufactory into the setting for an unforgettable anniversary bash. 200 years in the making, the celebration drew an illustrious cast of guests. The iconic Rothschild Bird made a graceful appearance, soon accompanied by a Queen Victoria butterfly drifting elegantly through the crowd. The liveliest stir, however, came when a charming blue fishnet bunny arrived, delighting fellow guests with playful stories inspired by life in the garden.
Herend is known for its long history of producing the finest hand-painted porcelain worldwide. Herend’s trademark fishnet pattern design, which is most popular in the U.S., originated in 1858 when an artist intrigued with a Chinese plate’s fish scale design painted it onto a rooster figurine’s breast to imitate feathers. Each Herend figurine is handmade in Hungary.
